Ladies Section

The Ladies Section of Morpeth Golf Club extends a very warm welcome to all visitors and members both existing and new. We pride ourselves in being an active and friendly section. We have a large membership of people of all ages; junior girls to senior ladies, with varying levels of golfing experience and ability.
We run a full diary of competitive and fun competitions throughout the year. Our main competition day is a Tuesday. Most ladies stay for lunch or coffee, so this is a good time to come along and meet other members. Alternative tee times are available on a Saturday for those who can’t play in the main competition. Trophies and medals are played for in stroke and stableford competitions. Nine-hole competitions can be organised throughout the season for those ladies who would rather play a shorter game.

We have several enthusiastic league teams competing in the Northumberland Ladies Golf Association. The 1st and 2nd team play in leagues and the TR and Norah Percy teams play in knockout competitions. Teams cover all handicap categories and new players are always welcome. Recent successes have been the 2nd team winning promotion to a higher league and retaining the TR Percy Trophy for two seasons.

Our section is always keen to encourage new members, whether a complete beginner looking for their first handicap or those who want to try a new club. Our golf professionals run popular sessions for ladies and girls new to golf. The ladies section nominates a member whose specific role is to liaise with new members. Individual and team introductory games are organised which have been very well received.
Morpeth Golf Club also has a well-supported mixed section. Throughout the year we play club competitions and fun team games, everyone is welcome to come along and join in.

Throughout the year there are many social occasions such as Field Day, Captain’s Day, Presentation Evening and Christmas Lunch when ladies meet together for a meal. There are also club events that are listed in the Fixture Book or advertised on line and on posters around the club house. Each year we enjoy a day away to another club which is extremely popular. A series of fun competitions are played in the run up to Christmas. These members are joining in the fun Santa Stableford competition.
